Critical illness cover

Group critical illness cover offers your workforce a cushion against the financial impact of a serious illness.

It provides an employee with a tax-free lump sum following the diagnosis of a serious condition or after he or she undergoes one of a defined list of surgical procedures. It affords some peace of mind that an employee’s financial commitments can be met – be it a mortgage or bills – when it is needed most.

The benefit is paid once the employee has lived beyond a specified period – typically 14, 28 or 30 days. The option to include permanent and total disability can usually be offered too.

The employer generally obtains corporation tax relief on premiums paid to the insurer.
